Barnes & Noble Will Ship Around 60,000 Nooks This Year

Far more people have ordered the Barnes & Noble Nook, first announced on 20 October that the company expected (despite getting criticized by the official reviewers). The company had Foxconn, MDGs, build a much smaller number than they should have.

The original plan was to send the file prior to 30 November, but that date was postponed until December 7. It took a month just to complete the ordering process to break. Now a small number of previous orders have not arrived yet and most brick and mortar stores are sold and even then only available in the “high volume” stores on Dec. 7.

B & N is to appease those customers whose pre-orders and early orders have not sent a gift certificate of $ 100 B & N if the device is not supplied by Dec. 23. The company wrote: “With our sincere apologies, we send an e-mail notification on 23 December with a $ 100 Barnes & Noble.com Online Gift Certificate”.

B & N reports that a “small number” of pre-order customers are facing difficulties and there are some conspiracy theories that claim that B & N is pushing back the dates of the vessels to ensure buyers do not cancel their orders. For example, a customer was not happy with waiting and requested a cancellation. The result? The refusal to cancel the order because the “device has entered the shipping process” although he still had to wait three days before the truck even arrives home.

According to B & N most previous orders have been sent, although it is currently impossible to acquire a right Nook now in time for Christmas and probably Easter. The Nook, for better or worse, is the Wii this year.

So how many will be delivered this year? Our sources tell us of Asia around 60,000, which is more than the B & N is expected people to buy (only sold around 400,000 Kindles in the first year offered).

But B & N has Foxconn is preparing to build more immediate Corners. Between line and the demand for bricks and mortar, the company hopes to sell half a million corners in the first three months of 2010, beyond its initial forecasts.

The biggest problem with the device was on the software side, which is slow and Glitchy. Once the device has worked will be a serious threat to the Kindle. And the fact that people can buy in the real world is a competitive advantage, too. One place you probably never see the Nook sold, however, is Amazon. I’d bet on that.
